Preparing for Fall Planting and Great CLCA Activities
September is right around the corner, the perfect time to prepare for fall planting. Clean up your flower beds, cut back perennials that are done blooming, and trim off any dead vegetation.
Another thing that you should prepare for is our Annual Deep Sea Fishing Trip on Friday, September 15. Space is filling up fast so make sure you reserve a spot today. This year we will again be going out of Hook’s Sportfishing, 3550 Harbor Blvd. #115, Oxnard. It’s a full day of fishing; we meet at 5:00 a.m., the boat leaves at 6 a.m. and returns at 4:00 p.m. It is loads of fun, and thanks to our generous Sponsors, the trip funds chapter activities for the coming year. Come out to show off how great of a fisherman you are and to network with peers and vendors. Call John Hernandez at (626) 715-1757 to learn more and reserve your spot.
Our friends at the San Fernando Valley Chapter have lined up some excellent events as well, to which all Channel Islands Chapter members and friends are always invited. There is a presentation about Estate Planning on August 24. This informative event will take place at Caruso’s Italian Kitchen in Granada Hills. Food is Italian buffet.
Next, there is the SFV Golf Tournament on September 26th at DeBell Golf Club in Burbank. It is a great opportunity to network with CLCA members and other Green Industry representatives from throughout the region. It will be a shotgun start with a wrap-up event once golfing is over, for networking and passing out awards. Click here for more information and to register.
One of our favorites is the SFV Auxiliary Scholarship Auction to be held October 19 at Szechuwan Garden in Tarzana. They want you to bring your appetite, your checkbook, and a wrapped gift to auction off. Then, join in the fun and laughs raising monies for future Green Industry leaders.
It’s not too early to make your reservations to attend the CLCA Convention November 8-11 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel and Spa in beautiful Monterey. It is a lot of fun with a little business mixed in. You don’t want to miss it.
Closing out the year is our CI Christmas Party and White Elephant Gift Exchange. We’ll be letting you know the details soon.
We have begun looking ahead for our chapter leadership team for next year. We can use some help to close out this year as well. If you are interested in getting involved in the decision-making process of the Channel Islands Chapter, give me a call. We need your ideas and some of your time. You and your company will benefit greatly from your involvement, and you’ll have a lot of fun in the process.
